Bo-Taoshi

Some Japanese sports are weird and are worthy of parody to us Americans, like Sumo wrestling and every activity on their game shows. These seem to get all the attention while a sport like Bo-Taoshi, an original and fresh take on Capture the Flag, gets no exposure in the western world. Bo-Tashi has all the makings to become a popular American sport: people running into each other and umm…ok so that’s about all it takes to be a popular sport in America. The basic premise involves two teams (let’s call them A and B) of 150 split into a defensive and offensive squad each. The offensive team of A tries to take down the pole of the B’s defensive team so it is at an angle of 30 degrees from the ground. Meanwhile, offensive B tries to do likewise to defensive A. Whoever accomplishes this first wins. I’d try any game involving 300 people at least once.
